ABOUT CBT

CBT Exam – Computer Based Test is an assessment test which Nurses should give if they wish for a career in UK. The newly introduced CBT is a two-part examination. You only get to take the test after authorization from Pearson Vue when candidates are through with UK NMC registration and verification from their home regulatory body. Part A of the exams consist of 15-mark numeracy questions whiles Part B is a 100-mark clinical multiple choice questions. The candidate has to pass both parts of the CBT before they can be accepted into the NMC register for nurses. If a candidate fails either part, they need only re-sit the part they have failed.

In a disciplined nation as UK, a skilled nurse or midwife is supposed to apply standard practices, knowledge and tenets of nursing and midwifery and the CBT is done to evaluate a precise understanding of your skills & knowledge in Nursing and midwifery.

CBT STRUCTURE FOR NURSES

The nursing CBT is made up of 15 numeracy questions for Part A where candidate provides his or her own answers after some calculations. Part B is a 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be assessed under the following domains for part B:

CBT STRUCTURE FOR MIDWIVES

The midwifery CBT is made up of 15 numeracy questions for Part A where candidate provides his or her own answers after some calculations. Part B is a 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be assessed under the following domains for part B:

  • Being an accountable, autonomous, professional midwife
  • Safe and effective midwifery care: promoting and providing
  • Continuity of care and carer
  • Universal care for all women and newborn infants
  • Additional care for women and newborn infants with complications
  • Promoting excellence: the midwife as colleague, scholar and leader
  • The midwife as skilled practitioner

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CBT

The content you should study is in accordance with the NMC study guide which covers randomly on all four of the domains and questions specific to adult nursing. These topics are Professional values, Communication, and interpersonal skills, nursing practice, and decision making Leadership management. There are many online and offline coaching classes across the globe but we would highly recommend that practice for yourself ie. buy the appropriate Book to study and practice the mock test from any of the below references.
